College of Life Science, Capital Normal University sincerely searching for Specially- Appointed Professor

　　Over the past 50 years, College of Life Science, Capital Normal University (one of the key developmental universities honoured by Beijing Municipal Government) has achieved significant development with the great support from all aspects and through persistent hard working of several generations. We have already formed an academic team of faculty with rational knowledge and age structure as well as the spirit of cooperation and creativity. So far, there are totally 78 staffs in our college, including 15 professors and 28 associate professors . Seven faculty members are honoured by Beijing Municipal Government and the Capital Normal University as “Distinguished Young Scientist”. Among the teaching staffs with Doctor Degree(60% of the whole teaching members), 26 of them have working experience in advanced oversea laboratories. In addition, our college has two Specially-Appointed Professors and three Visiting Professors honoured by Beijing Municipal Government. In recent five years, we have been carrying out scientific research at different levels. These include 2 projects for the National Distinguished Young Scientist Foundation; more than 20 projects for the National Natural Science Foundation of China, including 1 key project and special transgene projects sponsored by the National Ministry of Science and Technology.

　　In recent years, academic development in our college has improved significantly. Currently, the college has three full-time undergraduate programs with 120 students each year. These include Teacher Training Program in Bioscience; Non-Teacher Training Program in Bioscience and Biotechnology. The college also set up a special training program for life science research with 40 talented young students selected each year from all over China. For graduate programs , 13 academic departments are authorized to award master degree, including Department of botany; zoology; microbiology; genetics; cell biology; biochemistry; molecular biology ; ecology and biopedagogy. Department of botany (honoured by Beijing Municipal Government as key laboratory) and department of genetics are also authorized to award doctor degree. In addition, College of Life Science contains one working station for postoc training as well as one special training base for life science research. In the year 2005, our college has totally 127 graduate students joining in different programs.

　　In the field of microcosmic-biology, our college has been equipped with systemic instruments at the level of nucleic acid; protein and cell manipulation. These instruments and equipments include : different types of low temperature ultracentrifuges; nucleic acid and amino acid sequencer; gelatin image-forming system; gene chip analysis system; electrophoresis apparatus; protein chromatographic system; capillary electrophoresis apparatus; high efficiency liquid chromatography; proteomics analysis system; various types of spectral photometers( including ultraviolet, fluorescence etc); laser confocal microscope; multiple advanced microscopes(fluorescence, interaction, discrepancy, upward, inversion and three –dimensional microscope); micromanipulation instuments; electrophysiological patch clamp system and common instruments and equipments. The total cost is over 20 million RMB. In addition, the college also have corresponding facility such as purity incubator house, incubator house with illumination temperature control and isotope house etc. In certain scientific research field , we have already showed the predominant trend and developed our own characteristics.

　　In order to catch up with the footstep of life science and technological development, we wish to find 1 or 2 Specially-Appointed Professors in the field of Macroscopical Biology from China and oversea countries. We believe that they can speed up and help to balance the general development of this field in our college. Requirements in detail are listed as follows:

1. 　　Candidates are required to have Doctor Degree with research experience in advanced oversea or domestic laboratories over at least five years. Qualified candidates are supposed to be able to grasp the current front-line of the research field as well as its future developing tendency. The spirit of creativity as well as the strong ability of cooperation and management are essential.
2. Research fields include: Wed-land Ecology ； Animal Ecology; Plant Ecology; Pollution Ecology； Environment Ecology; Global Ecology etc.
3. Candidates are supposed to have stable research directions as well as outstanding academic achievements , including series of published scientific research articles in advanced academic journals in recent years (First Author or Corresponding Author) and (or) special honours for his or her academic achievements.
4. College of Life Science, Capital Normal University , will provide the qualified researchers with full support from all possible aspects, including initial financial support for the research project; laboratory; working assistant; reasonable salaries as well as issues related with household and family members.
